Teleconference Guidelines
NEW for 2009!
1. You must pre-register for each teleconference. You may register on-line under teleconference descriptions below, or by calling FAFS toll-free Hotline 1/800/222-0047. If you register and are unable to participate, please notify us immediately so that another foster parent can take your place.

2. You will receive a packet of information about the teleconference seven to ten days prior to the scheduled call. Please review the material and prepare any questions you may want to ask.

3. About 7:50 pm on the night of the teleconference, the phone company conference coordinator will call you, a roll call will be taken at the beginning and end of the call, and the FAFS facilitator will introduce our guest speaker. All calls are two hours in length. You must be present for both roll calls in order to get training hours for the call.

4. Again, if you are unable to participate in the teleconference, please contact the Hotline 1/800/222-0047.

Due to the limited space on teleconferences, we may need to create a waiting list. If a waiting list is created, you will receive a letter stating that you are on the waiting list and that you will be notified of the next available space.

Training Services for
NJ Foster/Adoptive Parents
FAFS' Training Department serves numerous functions to the foster and adoptive community. Our primary responsibilities include:

• FAFS Training Online. Bridging time and distance, you will be able to take courses online at a time that is convenient for you. At this time, this service is ONLY available to licensed resource parents. Completion of each course attributes to maintaining licensure.
•Home Correspondence Courses. Home Correspondence Courses are educational pamphlets accompanied by videos that are mailed to foster parents. Completion of each course attributes to maintaining licensure.
•County Based Trainings.
These trainings are given in each county once per year for members of the local Foster and Adoptive Family Services. These trainings also count towards maintaining licensure.
•Teleconferences. These trainings are two hour trainings delivered by experts in the field of the topic. It is a great convenient way to gain information, knowledge and training credits.

If you are in need of special accommodations to participate in any of FAFS trainings, please contact us at 1-800-222-0047.
